Police Shootings in America

This dataset contains information on police shootings drawn from 47 of America's largest local police departments.

There are approximately 18,000 law enforcement agencies in the United States, and this dataset is not intended to be a representative sample. You can read more about its origins on the Vice News website.

Data coverage is in most instances 2010-2016, with the following exceptions:

• U.S. Department of Justice data for Detroit is only available for 2010-2013.
• San Diego Police Department and Atlanta Police Department data is only available for 2010-2015.
• Philadelphia Police Department, Los Angeles Police Department, Columbus Division of Police and Baltimore County Police Department data is available for an extended period of 2010-2017.
